Vietnamese cultural chopsticks “taken to the next level”
According to the Trade Management Department of the Quang Tri Department of Industry and Trade, in 2025, Quang Tri province registered 17 products/product sets for selection as outstanding rural industrial products at the national level. These products are among the 21 recognized as outstanding rural industrial products in the Central – Central Highlands region in 2024.
Outstanding rural industrial products in Quang Tri province vary in form and design. However, familiar products from everyday life, such as chopsticks, spoons, and ladles, have been “upgraded” and reach international standards.
In Nam Ba Don commune, Quang Tri province, the Quang Thuy Wooden Chopsticks Production and Business Cooperative acts as a pioneer for developing rural industrial products, combining economic development with preserving Vietnamese culture.
Mr. Le Thanh Trien, Director of Quang Thuy Wooden Chopsticks Cooperative, shared: “As consumer markets become more demanding about safety, aesthetics, and distinctiveness, Quang Thuy Wooden Chopsticks Cooperative constantly innovates, integrating technology and the spirit of Vietnamese craftsmanship into each pair of chopsticks. Quang Thuy Wooden Chopsticks are not simply consumer goods, but a crystallization of intellect, aesthetics, and responsibility for consumer health, with absolute safety.”
Describing the former student who succeeded with a nationally recognized rural industrial product and the 5-star OCOP Quang Thuy Wooden Chopsticks: Dr. Nguyen Quang Cuong, born in 1957, former Lecturer at Quy Nhon University, founder of Hoa Cuong Museum in Ha Tinh, shared: “During my teaching years, strong-willed students often befriended me. Inspired by the philosophy ‘Always shine’ from Morita Sony, I transmitted inspiration, knowledge, willpower, and awakened their deepest souls. Among them, Le Thanh Trien of Comprehensive Literature K29 – Quy Nhon University stood out. He transformed everyday utensils in Vietnamese kitchens into a 5-star OCOP product and a national brand.”

Applying lacquer to wood creates traditional and safe value
